Since 1992 Hassan Nasrallah has been the leader of the Lebanese group Hezbollah. A popular political figure in Lebanon - Nasrallah is a driving force behind Hezbollah s ongoing military operations as well as the group s foray into politics. On July 12 2006 - Hezbollah fighters abducted two Israeli soldiers from a border post near Lebanon - prompting a massive Israeli military campaign and thrusting Nasrallah and his organization into the international spotlight. Nasrallah and his party Hezbollah came out of that war victorious and became national and international heros to the Arab and Muslim world.
